More of My Sweet Grand-daughter at the Beach

She played, she talked to herself, she sang, and she danced.  Her little heart is so pure and precious.  I got her a baby doll in her Easter basket, and she told me on the phone that her older brother and sister were throwing it between them and not letting her have it.  Now that is not the way they usually play, and I had to scold both of them.  I could tell I was not impressing them much with my "stern voice."

However, when I mentioned emailing Papa Randy... there was a pause, then a sincere, "we promise Nana, we will never do it again!"  Randy is like my dad, they can both give you a quite and calm talking to, and make you wish they had beat you instead.  Randy is the kind of person you want to think well of you.  Most military people are.

McKenna and Her Pail and Shovel




One of the great loves of my life is my grand-children.  Mckenna loves me, and I love McKenna, and I took her to the beach with a pail and shovel...

I Love Raising My Own Food!



I have so many good things coming from my garden right now, and I made a beautiful salad from my garden for supper last night!  There are cherry tomatoes, yellow crook next squash, green and red peppers, onions, jalapeno peppers, zucchini squash, cucumber, and boiled eggs.  I had to purchase the iceberg head lettuce, the pepper jack cheese cubes, and the Ken's Raspberry Walnut Vinaigrette Dressing, but that represents such a small cost.  My garden plot is very small, but raises more than I can hope to eat by myself.  Pictures of my garden to follow...

Sometimes... Evil Wins...

I found this on the Facebook page of a man I greatly admire.  He is no longer with us, he was assassinated on May 28, 2011.  I never met him, but his widow and children are among the people I love most in this world.  Not only could he be viewed as a lion, but she as a lioness.  This was posted by Yasmin Mogahed on a page of tribute to the great son of Afghanistan, may he rest in peace.  His name is Mohammad Daud Daud.

There is a great lesson in the death of this honorable man... unless we all fiercely fight it, sometimes, evil wins.

Our Culture and Society Worships Physical Beauty

I am artistic in my soul, I love beautiful things, beautiful furniture, beautiful flowers, beautiful jewelery, beautiful children, (of course all children are beautiful, they are so fresh from God's hand,) beautiful sunsets or sun rises, beautiful words, and beautiful men and women.  However, soon the memory of the individual flower, the face of a child in Walmart, or the jewelery in the shop is forgotten.  

Things I remember and hold dear are those things full of personal meaning, my own wedding ring, my own rose garden, the view across the pasture from my back porch, and the people in my life whom I love, and whom love me.  All of them are physically attractive to me, their faces, shapes, and colors, but perhaps they would not be so to others, for their attractiveness is found not in my eye, but in my heart.

As far as physically beautiful people go, especially women, that scripture in Proverbs describes all that physical beauty grants a person, as well as the qualities that are to truly be valued.  "Charm is deceitful and beauty fades; but a woman who fears the LORD will be praised."  Another scripture says it like this, "all people are like grass, and all their beauty is like a flower of the field.  The grass dries up and the flower drops off."  

What makes me truly value another lies in a selfish motive, which I believe none can deny being a slave to.  Maya Angelou says it best:  "I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." 

I would add, they will forget what you look like...
